When you look at Dataminr, my thinking is if it gives you even two minutes advance notice of an event—prior to anything coming through other media—that’s money well spent.

Dataminr alerted our wildfire team on the unusual wind speeds in Boulder, Colorado before anyone else—which enabled our team to efficiently track fire updates from subsequent alerts even with reduced seasonal monitoring. Dataminr alerted us more than an hour ahead of our other system and was critical to fill the gaps in local news sources and other media.

We received an alert informing us of a shooting at a hotel near one of our offices. We have employees that would often dine at the restaurants in the hotel. We were able to inform our local facility manager, who had not yet heard of the event, and he immediately began the incident response procedure and ensured everyone was kept safe.
